The colleagues of Deputy John Robert Kotfila, Jr., along with the community, wanted to honor him in a unique way after his passing. Deputy Kotfila shared a strong bond with his beloved German Shepherd, which served as inspiration for the construction of a dog park in his name. The John Kotfila, Jr. Memorial Dog Park now allows the citizens of Tampa to enjoy parks and gardens on what was once an unused portion of land under the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway.
